Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are a very important key to the success of our museum – they support staff in various functions and assist in providing programs. Quite simply, the museum could not operate without the help of the wonderful volunteers.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to give back to your community, learn new skills, meet interesting people, gain career-related experience, and just have fun! All volunteers with an interest in social and/or natural history are welcome!
If you want to expand your knowledge of history, the Qualicum Beach Museum is the place to do it. Opportunities abound for participating in engaging work and building friendships!
The multitude of skills brought by the volunteers to their work at the Museum, Archives and Society are invaluable to the operation of our facility. We would like to thank each and every one of our volunteers for their hard work and dedication and would like to thank you for your interest in the Qualicum Beach Historical & Museum Society (QBH&MS).
Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss volunteer opportunities with the QBH&MS.
If you would like to become a member of the Qualicum Beach Historical & Museum Society, simply fill in the Membership Form come to the Museum and fill out a form in person.
Help deliver a memorable school program experience by volunteering your time and knowledge of social or natural history. Programs range from grades 1 to 7.
Fundraising & Special Events
We are always putting on and attending events for the community at large and need many helping hands. If you’re only available here and there, this may be a fun way to participate. Fundraising such as golf tournaments and children’s events are just a few examples of the opportunities to can get involved in!
The front desk staff is the first point of contact for visitors to the museum. Responsibilities include greeting guests, processing gift shop sales, and answering general questions about the museum.
Assisting with recording new additions of artefacts to the museum. This includes inventory, cataloguing, data entry, conservation, and research of artefacts in our collections.
Putting up posters, advertising, marketing, social media, and website maintenance.
Help create and set-up exhibits and displays.
Anyone with previous archiving experience or those willing to help out with archiving photos, maps, and documents is welcome.
With all of the events being presented, we need committees to help plan them. This is a great way to see the inside of a non-profit organization and learn how it all works.
Accounting & Bookkeeping
Volunteers with accounting and bookkeeping experience are welcome.
As a museum, we are able to operate thanks to donations and grant funding. Anyone with an eye for detail is welcome to help us apply to these sources. This takes part throughout the year although many submissions are generally due in the spring.
Members of the QBH&MS receive a quarterly newsletter in print or via email. Volunteers are needed to help with the writing and compilation of this newsletter.
