QB Reads Poetry Edition
Ft. Wendy Donawa & Linda K. Thompson
Poetry opens doors to new perspectives on human condition, and nothing could be truer when it comes to the words written by poets Wendy Donawa and Linda K. Thompson.
Wendy Donawa was raised in Victoria, but spent 36 years of her adult life in Barbados as a college instructor and museum curator. Returning to Victoria, she now focuses on writing poetry. Her recently published third poetry collection, The Time of Falling Apart, reflects a world rife with violence and injustice, but also evokes the earth’s small beauties and the possibilities of love and transcendence. “If you care about language, if you care about story, the Time of Falling Apart is a collection to treasure.”, writes Arleen Paré, author of Time Out of Time.
Linda K. Thompson was raised on a potato and cattle farm in the Pemberton Valley, B.C. She has lived in Port Alberni now for many years, and is currently at work on a manuscript that involves murder, mayhem, and matrimony. Linda’s book, Black Bears in the Carrot Field, offers readers a saucy, sensuous smorgasbord of captivating, tender-hearted poems. Lorna Crozier, poet and Officer of the Order of Canada, write of Linda’s writing, “This story-tellers voice is refreshingly rural, heart-driven, and tough. Every character Thompson brings to life will stay with you forever.”
Please join us at the QB Museum on Friday November 14th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. for a joint poetry reading from these fascinating V.I. poets.
